So I wished them a happy Halloween, and a good day
Great job Richie. To bad you didn't have a bowl of Halloween candy by the door you could have put some in their book bags.
so, i had just woke up, and i was sitting on my couch.
i'm wearing a pair of worn khaki shorts, and a tshirt.. there is a subtle knock on the door.
so, i walk over to the door.

did any of you do something really naughty and forbidden after you left the wts?
i waited almost 6 months, then realized i could smoke because there wasn't anyone to tell me what i can and can't do, so if i wanted to, i could smoke......so i did.
it wasn't long until i began to regret doing that.
A lot of people either go back to smoking or start because it is a way of thumbing their nose at the Watchtower. It is too bad they don't ban something healthy like eating apples.
Good luck with the quitting. I know you can do it. It is getting harder to find places to smoke so I think it is a little easier to quit that it was in the past.
ok so i am a ex-witness,(disfellowshiped) i have posted here before...but i must say why have'nt we moved on?
come on i mean if we all really thought that the jw sect was just that then why are we not trying to forget it and let life go on as it has; and try to be true to ourselves and our neighbor and read jesus words as recorded in the bible?
i have been reading my bible on lunch breaks at my work, as well as reading in the dhammapada.
If you were born into it and spent the next 20 or 30 year having your head filled with the crap they teach you may have a little difficulty moving on.
If one day you wake up to the reality that it is not the truth but your whole family still believes it it you may be a bit of a problem just moving on.
If you aren't a jw but your spouse, child or parents have joined their ranks and your life is being turned upside down and inside out you may need just a little bit of support to get you through it.
People come here for very complex reasons. Leaving the Watchtower isn't like buying a ticket to a baseball game and deciding you don't like baseball and never going again. Once the Watchtower is in your life no matter how got there it is just about impossible get it out. It will continue sticking its insidious nose into your business years after you have moved on.
it's not forever, i just need some time away.
this is by no means a plea for attention.. this board has made me realize i am not alone, with my feelings and thoughts of the org.
however, i need to get my life in order around here - i need to spend time with my husband and children and start finally living for them(and me).
Just remember if you leave you will have to go before the committee before anyone here can speak with you again...... or am I thinking of another group I was associated with that does that sort of thing? That must be it.
Anyway I'm glad I checked in this morning to see your post. I wish you all the best and hope everything works out for you and your family.
Take care.
nobody ever said that the end was coming in 1975.. all the hype about this date that has continued all the way down through today came from a talk in the early 70's by fred franz.
in this talk, franz pointed out the significance of the 7 creative days and how they correspond with 1,000-year time intervals.. he then said, "could the end come in 1975?
there's so much wrong with jehovah's witnesses from their rigid legalism to their faux love, but let's call a spade a spade about the 1975 thing..
Does anyone remember the special tract work that was going on just prior to 1975? The time was so close they came out with special tracts that were to be given to the householder with a sense of urgency. Also the length of time studying with people was cut to six months because there wasn't much time before the end and as many people as possible had to hear the word. Quite the scam wasn't it?

This is akin to coming on a forum for scientists and saying: Let's get something straight, the earth is flat!
Good point. This could have saved me some typing.

I remember a "Kingdom Ministry" maybe a year or two before 1975 saying something to the effect that reports were coming in about brothers selling there homes to move to where the need was great... surely this is a fine thing to do in the remaining months before Armageddon (or it might have said before the end of this system of things). If I can the direct quote I will post it. They did say months not years. A lot of witnesses really screwed themselves by listening to them.
i'm moving on.
i want to express my gratitude to members here who have steered me right when my own compass was stuck.
i know i didn't put much effort into becoming friends with many of you and i'm sure that i'm the loser for it.
I think everyone should take break from this once in a while
Good-bye and good luck
it seems like the witnesses are going to be told that they they now can take blood---at least some of it!
i asked my mom a few minutes ago if she would take blood fractions and she said "no!".
i gave her a head's up on what to expect from the new km.
It seems like the Witnesses are going to be told that they they now CAN take blood---at least some of it!
I hope someone will be able to post the transcript of this announcement. I would be very interested in seeing it. My opinion for a long time has been that they would like to drop the whole blood issue but aren't sure how they can do it without losing face and members. A lot have died because of it so it would be very difficult for them to just drop the issue. I think what they may have been doing with all the changes are testing the waters to see how witnesses react to any changes. Or maybe they think if they confuse the sheep enough the witness will breath a sigh of relieve when they make it less complicated by doing away with the whole bloody issue (pun intended) Or they could be boiling the frog slowly so the frog has no idea it is being cooked. It seems to be going out of the back door a piece at a time. It would be a much easier step to go from just a few small pieces to no pieces than it would be to get rid of it all at once. They could say something along the lines that it was once necessary but now due to modern medical techniques it is much safer. They could use the example of why the Jews weren't allow to eat pork but now with refigeration and modern processing it has become safe or something along that line.
I know it is hard to believe that they would at some point get rid of it but 20 years ago who would have believed that the blood policy would become what it has today. Back then it was just a simple no blood in any form under any conditions. Look at how they were able to get rid of the 1914 generation with hardly a peep out of the true believers. But who knows? They are just crazy enough to have entire blood policy just about out the door then release a magazine taking a hard nosed stance in favor of keeping it. We have seen them flip flop many times on other issues.
a little background..... i was a dub from age 7 to age 18 or so.
my first love was a girl at a local hall.
we will call her t. as a young witness in good standing i did everything by the book, group dates, little sister shaparone, stealing the occasional kiss and felling guilty about it.
I was f%^&^%$g crushed and devastated and this helped me to leave the borg sooner than I would have.
You owe her one for this.
Interesting story. I'm sure it was a shock for her to see you after dreaming about you recently. I sometimes wonder about people I knew and haven't seen in over 20 years. Are they still dubs or have they moved on?
